In a step aimed at deepening the understanding of political, social, economic, and cultural issues, Khulasat Center for Research and Policy Studies has officially launched today, coinciding with the celebration of the glorious September 26 Revolution. As a pioneering Yemeni research platform, the center is expected to contribute significantly through specialized research to address societal challenges in unstable contexts, particularly in post-conflict societies like Yemen. It will also study Yemen’s relations with its immediate surroundings and influential global policies, in all their dimensions. Additionally, the center will translate foreign studies and research on Yemen across various fields, publish peer-reviewed and translated scientific books, and organize specialized conferences, workshops, seminars, and training programs to strengthen research capacities.

The center plans to enrich field research by providing studies, reports, and public policy papers based on real-world data. These will focus on analyzing local, regional, and international issues through rigorous scientific methodologies that combine comparative analysis with leading international experiences, with the aim of offering strategic insights to guide pathways for sustainable transformation and development.

In its research mission, Khulasat aims to support recovery and early revitalization efforts in Yemen by addressing challenges related to building the rule of law, upholding civic space rights, and tackling educational issues. It also seeks to offer critical perspectives on social justice, human rights, women’s issues, marginalized and vulnerable groups, and societal tolerance, with a strong focus on promoting good governance, sound management, and strengthening social cohesion.
Through a series of specialized research, the center aims to provide in-depth studies on issues related to democracy and institutional reform, drawing lessons and offering practical solutions that can be implemented in the Yemeni context. These outputs are expected to contribute to enhancing stability and building a tolerant and just society.

Khulasat places significant importance on forming local, regional, and international partnerships to study human rights issues, accountability, reparation, justice, the rule of law, and reconstruction. The center's meticulous field research sheds light on the challenges faced by marginalized and vulnerable groups, climate justice issues, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), all with the goal of supporting political, social, and economic transformations in conflict-affected communities. Furthermore, the center is dedicated to addressing poverty and rural issues in Yemen by offering sustainable solutions grounded in a deep understanding of the local realities and challenges faced by rural communities in the region.

By adopting comparative analytical methodologies, Khulasat is committed to studying Yemen’s relationship with its regional and international environment, understanding the global policies impacting the country. The center directs its research towards key challenges facing the state and society, ensuring that its political and strategic recommendations are based on scientific, methodical, objective, and accurate analyses of the situation. The center also provides in-depth analyses of critical issues such as social justice, climate justice, and the SDGs, supporting both local and international efforts to achieve sustainable stability and long-term community development.

By focusing its efforts on rebuilding societies in unstable contexts, Khulasat Center for Research and Policy Studies aims to deliver research contributions that enhance the social and political understanding of complex issues. Its detailed and field-based analyses are intended to support and guide decision-makers towards informed steps for recovery and stability. This is vital for fostering a conscious vision for state-building and achieving justice in Yemen, and across the Arab region, by offering effective and actionable solutions to the complex challenges faced by states and societies in Yemen and other conflict-affected areas.

Khulasat is headed by Abdulrasheed Al-Faqih, Vice Chairperson of Mwatana for Human Rights and co-founder of Khuyut platform. Rania Awn serves as Executive Director, and Mansour Abu Al-Fadl as Forum Coordinator. The center’s arbitration committee consists of five academics, alongside an advisory board comprising researchers specializing in various aspects of institutional work.
